Jennifer Montana Design employs individuals from Harbor House, a non-profit community center located in a largely immigrant-populated section of Oakland, California, that is afflicted by such challenging issues as unemployment, refugee status, illiteracy, and inadequate educational preparation.

Designed by Jennifer Montana and handcrafted by members of Harbor House, many of these pieces are meticulously produced at the Harbor House headquarters. This employment opportunity fulfills many different needs — both economic and social. Working with JMD allows these women to provide additional financial support for their families, and build their self-esteem as well as their sense of community in a safe environment.
